Column and Boom Welding Manipulator take any kind of automatic welding head and specially suitable for the Esab range of automatic head, which feature they same qualities of reliability and performance.
Welding Head:
- The column and boom can be supplied with facilities designated to accept any type of welding head, ie. Submerged Arc with single wire, Tandem welding system, Gas Shielded Metal Arc and Flux cored Arc welding.
Electrical Controls:
- The base of the column is fitted with an isolator to which the three phase supply is connected, making the machine ready to run.
- Boom Elevation
- Boom raise / lower is by constant speed AC motor with electromagnetic brake driving a set of worm reduction gear boxes which in turn drive chain sprockets. Two chains connect the apron, the weight of which is counter balanced by a weight inside the column.

The system works with standard MIG/MAG torches in the 16-22 mm diameter range and offers horizontal travel speed from 0.05 to 2.5 m/min. Linear oscillation is available with multiple weld paths such as straight, triangle, trapezoid and square, giving flexibility to tailor bead shape and penetration to your WPS requirements.
WA Compact comes with a modular track system; the standard set includes a 4 m track that can be extended in 2 m sections up to a total length of 20 m, making it suitable for tanks, beams, frames and other long fabricated components. The system operates on 1-phase 110-120 V or 220-240 V, 50-60 Hz input with only 200 W power consumption.
For the operator, an ergonomic remote control pendant with clearly arranged knobs allows quick adjustment of travel speed, oscillation width, oscillation speed and dwell times without lifting the welding hood. Standard shipping includes gantry welding system, 4 m track, arc ignition cable, remote pendant, signal cables, vertical slide, tracking sensor and full torch holding kit.
